DC Bias in a plasma has been used for many years as a basic indication of the process.  By itself it can give a basic indication of system health and process performance.   The probe in itself is a simple addition to many systems. 

 

Usually placed within the matching network for convenience it allows us to measure the resultant DC Bias on the electrode.
